A porteña by birth, Mercedes Alfonsín received her degree in Combined Arts from the National University Of Buenos Aires and a Masters of Fine Arts for Film and Opera from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Since 1995, Alfonsín has worked in Argentina and internationally designing feature films, television series and commercials. She has collaborated with such well known directors as Juan José Campanella, Luis Puenzo, Pablo Trapero, Lucía Puenzo, Diego Kaplan, Daniele Luchetti, and Gerardo Olivares.
Her stage work includes Art Direction for Shrek the Musical at the Maipo Theater, which won the Hugo Award for Best Musical of the Year in 2015.
Alfonsín is a committed educator, and has taught Art Direction for Visual Arts at the National Film School (ENERC) and the Masters Program in Visual Arts at the Argentine Catholic University (MACA) as well as in numerous private institutions.
In December 2016 her first book Punto Ciego was published.
